General Summary – Primary Functions
The primary purpose of this role is to assist leadership in guiding and overseeing a branch location. Using influential leadership techniques, the Assistant Branch Manager will provide consistent support and mentorship to achieve excellence in member service and employee satisfaction. This role assists in leading the team to achieve branch goals by ensuring high-quality consultative conversations, participating in business development activities to strengthen Select Employer Group (SEG) relationships, and supporting community involvement initiatives.
Team Management
- Assist the Branch Manager with overseeing daily branch operations, including onboarding, coaching, training, hiring, evaluations, promotions, corrective actions, and terminations.
- Establish and review performance standards to evaluate team performance.
- Support employee career and skill development through coaching, professional development, and career pathing.
- Provide oversight and coaching to achieve excellence in member consultation, service standards, business development, and operations.
- Conduct team meetings and one-on-one coaching sessions.
- Manage employee time-off requests and scheduling.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on products and services.
- Oversee branch timekeeping.
Community and Business Development
- Partner with Business Development teams to implement community and SEG growth strategies.
- Participate in local Chambers of Commerce, community events, and partner relationships.
- Attend local events supporting business development and community initiatives.
- Uphold organizational standards, brand reputation, and professional expectations.
Operations Management
- Support team members with transactions and account requests as needed.
- Handle member escalations and assist with complex situations.
- Provide operational oversight for funds availability, supervisor overrides, and check approvals.
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and internal controls.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual branch audits.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of reports.
- Coordinate branch safety, appearance, and functionality with internal departments.
- Identify operational improvement opportunities to enhance member and employee experience.
- Collaborate with internal business partners as needed.
Strategic Vision and Implementation
- Partner with senior leadership to develop and implement branch strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Communicate branch vision and objectives to team members.
- Recommend improvements to enhance branch performance and strategic direction.
Miscellaneous Responsibilities
- Attend seminars and training to enhance professional and technical skills.
- Participate in departmental projects and initiatives.
- Assist with special assignments and support other branch locations as needed.
- Maintain member confidentiality.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Four years of financial institution experience required.
- Two years of management experience required.
- Two years of retail sales/service experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of banking/credit union policies and procedures.
- Ability to implement strategies to meet organizational goals.
- Experience with community and business development, prospecting, and relationship management.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to travel between branch locations as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work at least 40 hours per week.
- Frequent reaching, lifting, bending, carrying, and data entry.
- Strong problem-solving abilities for resolving member issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, via email, in writing, and by phone.
