Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the successful execution of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, tech-savvy, and capable of coordinating multiple project activities while maintaining clear communication between project managers, field teams, subcontractors, vendors, architects, and engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Project Manager throughout all phases of commercial construction, including preconstruction, construction, and closeout.
Assist with developing and maintaining project schedules, subcontracts, budgets, and progress reports.
Assist with preparing, tracking, and managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
Support estimating, pricing, and tracking of change orders.
Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
Maintain accurate project records and documentation using construction management and project management software.
Review construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and other project documents.
Monitor material procurement, deliveries, and project timelines.
Assist with permitting, inspections, and project closeout procedures.
Attend job site visits, project meetings, and coordination meetings as required.
Support field operations and help ensure projects remain on schedule and within established requirements.
Communicate project updates, documentation requirements, and action items to relevant team members.
Manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced commercial construction environment.
Qualifications
1–3+ years of experience in commercial construction, construction project coordination, or a related project support role.
Familiarity with construction documents, drawings, specifications, and industry terminology.
Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and time-management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction/project management software.
Experience with Procore, ProjectSight, Bluebeam, Dropbox, Buildertrend, PlanGrid, or similar platforms is a plus.
Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and projects while meeting deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Ability and willingness to visit active construction sites and participate in field meetings.
OSHA 10 certification is preferred.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Equivalent construction experience, field experience, or relevant internships may be considered.
