Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Associate Attorney with 2+ years of substantive commercial litigation experience to join a civil defense litigation team. The ideal candidate will have experience handling matters through all phases of litigation, from initial investigation and discovery through depositions, motion practice, hearings, and trial.

Candidates must be admitted to practice law in Oregon. Admission to practice in Washington is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Independently manage litigation files and work collaboratively with attorneys and legal teams.

Conduct fact investigations and develop case strategies.

Handle document productions, discovery, and other litigation-related tasks.

Prepare witnesses for depositions.

Take and defend depositions.

Draft and prepare pleadings, briefs, motions, and other legal documents.

Review and analyze insurance policies, contracts, and other legal documents.

Prepare for and attend court hearings, including oral arguments on motions.

Assist with trial preparation and participate as a member of the trial team.

Support and participate in direct and cross-examination of witnesses.

Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, witnesses, and other parties throughout the litigation process.

Required Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

2+ years of experience in commercial litigation.

Experience handling all phases of litigation.

Active Oregon Bar admission is required.

Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.

Experience with discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, and trial preparation.

Ability to independently manage litigation matters while working effectively within a team.

Strong attention to detail, organization, and case-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Washington Bar admission is preferred.

Civil defense litigation experience is highly valued.

Experience in areas such as commercial/business litigation, construction, employment/labor, insurance coverage and defense, government liability, medical malpractice, premises liability, product liability, professional/management liability, or transportation litigation is a plus.
