Job Title: Associate - CMBS
Location: Atlanta, GA
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced professional to support commercial real estate credit investments through underwriting, financial analysis, portfolio monitoring, and risk assessment. This role will focus on evaluating commercial real estate loans, building financial models, conducting market research, and supporting investment decision-making across a diverse real estate portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite and perform credit analysis on commercial real estate loan collateral across various property types.
- Evaluate loan-level and portfolio-level risks and assist with ongoing asset monitoring.
- Build and maintain financial models to assess property performance, valuation, and downside scenarios.
- Conduct sensitivity analyses and cash flow modeling.
- Assist in preparing investment committee presentations and portfolio review materials.
- Monitor market trends, economic conditions, and industry developments impacting portfolio performance.
- Support asset management activities and provide periodic reporting and performance updates.
- Analyze commercial real estate transactions and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with investment, underwriting, and asset management teams to support investment decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in:
- Commercial Real Estate (CRE)
- Real Estate Credit
- Loan Underwriting
- Investment Banking
- Debt Capital Markets
- Structured Finance
- Real Estate Acquisitions
- Asset Management
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
- Experience performing credit analysis and risk assessment.
- Knowledge of commercial real estate valuation methodologies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS).
- Experience with CRE CLO, SASB, Agency, or Conduit transactions.
- Familiarity with all major commercial property types:
- Office
- Retail
- Multifamily
- Industrial
- Hotel
- Understanding of commercial real estate financing structures and industry terminology.
- Experience reviewing appraisals, loan documents, mortgages, prospectuses, and asset reports.
