Job Overview

Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates using electronic health record (EHR) systems and EMR platforms.
- Support medication administration under the supervision of nursing staff while adhering to HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques.
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for memory care.
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy preparation, and basic life support during emergencies.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care activities within electronic systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in acute care, ICU, emergency medicine, or behavioral health units to deliver comprehensive patient service.
- Use appropriate equipment such as Hoyer lifts and ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed in all patient interactions.
Experience
Candidates should have prior experience working in diverse healthcare environments including hospital medicine, long-term care facilities, sub-acute care settings, or outpatient clinics. Experience with medical-surgical units, geriatrics, pediatrics, or post-acute care is highly valued. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is preferred. A background in caring for individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs is advantageous. Certification in basic life support (BLS) is required; additional certifications like phlebotomy or hospice care are a plus. Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy and physiology, infection control practices, and medical terminology is essential for success in this role.
