Job Summary

A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Long-Term Care (LTC) provides direct daily care and support to elderly, disabled, or chronically ill residents in nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, assisted living facilities, or long-term care hospitals. The CNA works under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

Resident Care

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including:
• Bathing
• Dressing
• Grooming
• Toileting
• Feeding
• Mobility and transfers
• Help residents maintain personal hygiene and comfort.
• Turn and reposition bedridden residents to prevent pressure ulcers.

Patient Monitoring

• Measure and record vital signs such as:
• Temperature
• Blood pressure
• Pulse
• Respiration
• Observe and report changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition.
• Document care provided according to facility procedures.

Safety & Support

• Maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Use proper infection control and safety procedures.
• Assist with ambulation and use of mobility devices.
• Respond promptly to resident call lights and emergencies.

Communication

• Communicate effectively with nurses, residents, and family members.
• Participate in care planning and team meetings.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to residents.
