Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our financial team. This is a senior-level opportunity for an accounting professional with strong experience in corporate/public accounting, tax, GAAP, financial reporting, auditing, and financial analysis.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial reporting, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting strategic financial planning, and providing valuable financial insights to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulatory standards.
- Conduct and support audits while ensuring compliance with SOX requirements and internal controls.
- Manage tax filings, including income tax-related activities and tax compliance.
- Support accounting considerations related to estate planning, wills, trusts, and estate law.
- Oversee general ledger accounting and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms.
- Perform financial analysis to support M&A, investment decisions, and asset management.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Ensure compliance with applicable securities laws and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Support nonprofit accounting activities and accounts payable processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and financial operations.
- Prepare clear financial reports and communicate financial information effectively to management and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required.
- Proven experience in public accounting or corporate accounting.
- Strong background in tax and technical accounting.
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, debits and credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and balance-sheet reconciliation.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar accounting software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret complex financial reports and perform detailed account analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with M&A, private equity, asset management, securities law, or estate planning is a plus.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting is preferred but not required.
