About the Job:

We are seeking an experienced Civil/Mechanical Lead to oversee all civil and mechanical construction activities for a large-scale utility infrastructure project. This position is responsible for ensuring that site development, civil works, and mechanical installations are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and construction schedules.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing civil construction activities, earthwork, grading, drainage systems, foundations, and mechanical installations within utility-scale renewable energy, heavy civil, or large infrastructure projects.


Key Responsibilities:

Lead and oversee all civil and mechanical construction activities on site.

Monitor earthwork operations, mass grading, and site preparation activities.

Inspect road construction, drainage systems, culverts, stormwater infrastructure, and erosion control measures.

Verify excavation, backfilling, and compaction activities comply with engineering specifications.

Review and inspect concrete foundations, equipment foundations, and anchor installations.

Monitor pile driving operations and review installation records and construction logs.

Oversee tracker or structural support system installation and verify alignment with project requirements.

Witness geotechnical investigations, field density testing, compaction testing, and other quality control inspections.

Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, project specifications, and applicable construction standards.

Review contractor work for quality, safety, and schedule adherence.

Identify construction deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions.

Track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), punch list items, and quality documentation.

Coordinate with project management, engineering, subcontractors, inspectors, and field personnel.

Prepare daily inspection reports, progress updates, and documentation.

Support commissioning and project turnover activities as required.


Required Qualifications:

Minimum 7+ years of experience in civil construction, mechanical construction, heavy civil, renewable energy, or utility-scale infrastructure projects.

Strong experience with site development, grading, drainage, roads, foundations, and earthwork operations.

Experience with pile foundations, structural foundations, or tracker foundation installations.

Knowledge of geotechnical reports, soil investigations, compaction testing, and field quality inspections.

Ability to interpret civil, structural, and mechanical construction drawings.

Experience reviewing inspection reports, quality documentation, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).

Strong understanding of construction quality control (QA/QC) processes.

Excellent communication, leadership, and coordination skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction documentation systems.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience on utility-scale solar, renewable energy, heavy civil, industrial, or infrastructure projects.

Familiarity with civil testing procedures and quality assurance programs.

Experience coordinating with contractors, engineers, inspectors, and project stakeholders.

Knowledge of construction safety standards and industry best practices.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced field construction environment.
