Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Programmer / Setup / Operator to join a small manufacturing company in a long-term permanent position.
This role is ideal for a hands-on CNC professional who can independently program, set up, and operate CNC lathes using Fanuc controls. The company operates in a high-mix, short-run environment, so the ability to work from engineering prints and handle different jobs with minimal supervision is important.
The company is looking for someone who is comfortable in a "do everything" environment and can also assist and guide other machinists to maintain productivity and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate CNC lathes with Fanuc controls.
- Create CNC programs directly from engineering drawings/prints.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
- Set up tooling, workholding, offsets, and machine parameters.
- Perform first-piece inspections and verify parts meet print specifications.
- Make necessary program, tooling, offset, speed, and feed adjustments.
- Troubleshoot machining and setup issues.
- Work effectively in a high-mix, low-volume / short-run production environment.
- Assist and guide other machinists/operators when needed.
- Help maximize machine productivity, quality, and efficiency.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Follow company quality and safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of CNC lathe programming experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Fanuc controls.
- Ability to program CNC lathes from prints without significant reliance on CAM.
- Strong CNC lathe setup and operating experience.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Experience working in a high-mix, short-run manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of tooling, offsets, speeds, feeds, and machining processes.
- Ability to work independently and troubleshoot machining issues.
- Willingness to assist and provide guidance to other CNC machinists.
- Comfortable working in a small-company environment where responsibilities can vary.
Work Schedule
- Monday–Friday, First Shift
- Minimum 40 hours per week
- Occasional overtime required
- Saturday overtime may occasionally be required depending on production volume
