Job Title: Consumer Debt Defense Attorney (Remote)

About the job

Our firm is currently seeking a remote, full-time attorney, licensed in the state of New Jersey, to provide representation and limited-scope legal assistance to consumer clients involved in debt collection lawsuits.

Responsibilities will include representing and defending clients in collection cases initiated by original creditors or debt buyers and, for clients who engage the firm in a narrower capacity, providing limited-scope legal assistance, including reviewing and editing pro se answer drafts prepared by the firm’s paralegals. This position will rarely require complex litigation and/or attendance at final hearings, as clients are enrolled in a debt resolution program, and typically desire to settle through voluntary payment arrangements with the creditors. Where in-person attendance at a hearing becomes necessary, local hearing attorneys may be utilized.

Qualifications:

- Licensed and in good standing with the New Jersey Bar

- At least 5 years of prior civil litigation experience

- Experience in high-volume consumer debt defense and/or collections preferred
