Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead and build a high-performing finance function within a fast-growing aviation organization. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with executive leadership and operational teams to drive financial performance, optimize airline economics, and support long-term business growth.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in financial reporting, operational finance, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and ERP systems within the aviation industry. This position plays a critical role in supporting fleet planning, route profitability analysis, capital investment decisions, and overall financial strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP and internal financial policies.
Analyze financial and operational performance to provide actionable insights that improve profitability and operational efficiency.
Oversee cost accounting activities related to airline operations including fuel, crew, maintenance, aircraft leases, and ground services.
Develop and maintain financial models for fleet economics, route profitability, and cost allocation across aircraft and operational bases.
Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes at both fleet and route levels.
Support capital budgeting initiatives, fleet acquisition analysis, lease-versus-buy evaluations, and major investment decisions.
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, commercial, and corporate finance teams to ensure alignment on financial goals and reporting.
Lead ERP implementation efforts and support continuous system improvements and process optimization.
Monitor aviation industry trends, regulatory changes, and financial reporting requirements impacting airline operations.
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
Minimum 3 years of experience within the aviation industry, including airlines, charter operations, MROs, or fleet management organizations.
Strong background in financial reporting, operational finance, and cost accounting.
Experience working with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
CPA or CMA certification required.
MBA preferred.
Advanced analytical, leadership, and strategic planning skills.
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
Preferred Experience:
Expertise in airline cost structures, fuel management, maintenance cycles, and revenue allocation methodologies.
Experience supporting high-growth or scaling organizations.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving business environment.
