About the Job:

We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead and oversee all EHS programs and compliance initiatives within a high-hazard manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, driving a strong safety culture, managing environmental programs, and supporting continuous improvement efforts across the facility.


Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance & Management Systems

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, and related requirements.

Maintain and continuously improve integrated management systems and quality certifications.

Lead internal and external EHS audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.

Manage corrective and preventive actions through closure.

Safety Program Leadership

Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs, including:

Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)

Process Safety Management (PSM)

Hazard Communication

Electrical Safety

Contractor Safety

Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), and risk assessments.

Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action programs.

Facilitate safety committee meetings and employee engagement initiatives.

Environmental Management

Manage environmental compliance programs related to:

Air Permitting

Wastewater Operations

Hazardous Waste Management (RCRA)

Stormwater Compliance

Prepare and submit required environmental reports and regulatory filings.

Lead sustainability and environmental improvement projects aimed at reducing operational impact.

Training & Safety Culture

Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.

Promote a proactive "Safety First" culture throughout the organization.

Drive awareness campaigns, employee recognition programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Emergency Preparedness & Response

Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.

Coordinate emergency drills, including fire, chemical spill, and evacuation exercises.

Serve as a key responder and leader during emergency situations.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

Establish and track key EHS performance metrics, including:

TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate)

LTIR (Lost Time Incident Rate)

Near-Miss Reporting

Environmental Performance Indicators

Prepare and present EHS performance reports to plant and corporate leadership.


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.

8+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience within chemical manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, process industries, or other high-hazard industrial environments.

Direct experience working with U.S. regulatory agencies and compliance requirements.

Strong background in chemical processing or manufacturing operations.


Technical Expertise:

In-depth knowledge of:

OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM)

EPA Risk Management Program (RMP)

RCRA Regulations

Industrial Safety Programs

Environmental Compliance Requirements

Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

Certifications (Preferred)

Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
