About the Job:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Lead to oversee the installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems for a utility-scale solar energy project. This role is responsible for ensuring all electrical work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, engineering specifications, and quality standards. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with utility-scale solar construction, medium-voltage (MV) systems, and electrical commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee installation, inspection, and quality control of PV DC electrical systems, including DC cabling, combiner boxes, and inverter installations.
Supervise medium-voltage (MV) collection system installation, testing, and energization activities.
Witness and coordinate electrical testing, commissioning, and startup of PV systems, inverters, transformers, and substation equipment.
Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable NEC, IEEE, project specifications, and manufacturer (OEM) requirements.
Coordinate daily activities with engineering, construction, commissioning, and field teams to maintain project schedules.
Monitor electrical quality throughout construction and resolve installation issues.
Review inspection reports, electrical documentation, and testing records for accuracy and completeness.
Track, document, and resolve electrical non-conformance reports (NCRs) and punch-list items.
Support safety initiatives by ensuring adherence to site safety policies, electrical procedures, and industry best practices.
Assist with project closeout documentation and final acceptance activities.
Required Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in utility-scale solar electrical construction.
Strong knowledge of photovoltaic (PV) electrical systems, medium-voltage (MV) collection systems, and high-voltage (HV) substation equipment.
Experience overseeing electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
Thorough understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC), IEEE standards, and electrical safety practices.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, specifications, and commissioning procedures.
Experience coordinating with construction, engineering, and commissioning teams.
Strong troubleshooting, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to manage multiple field activities while maintaining quality and schedule objectives.
Electrical commissioning experience is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
Utility-scale renewable energy project experience.
Knowledge of inverter systems, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, and substation commissioning.
Experience with electrical quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes.
Strong documentation, reporting, and inspection management skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction documentation software.
