Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Estimator to join a growing steel construction team specializing in high-quality structural steel services for commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will support estimating operations, prepare competitive bids, and collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely project proposals.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform quantity take-offs and prepare complete bid packages within deadlines

Review construction drawings and project specifications to develop accurate estimates

Communicate with general contractors and project owners to clarify scope, requirements, and bidding conditions

Evaluate project requirements including materials, specifications, participation goals, and compliance standards

Attend pre-bid meetings and site walkthroughs to assess project scope

Assist in negotiating contract pricing and terms when required

Maintain organized documentation and ensure all bid submissions are complete and accurate

Collaborate with internal teams to support estimating and project planning efforts

Basic Requirements:

Strong attitude toward teamwork, accountability, and performance

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field

Prior experience in structural steel or miscellaneous metals estimating

Strong negotiation and communication skills

Highly motivated, ambitious, and eager to grow within the estimating field

Solid understanding of construction processes and industry standards
