Estimator

I’m reaching out from Bluebix Solutions regarding an excellent Estimator opportunity with one of our clients in the heavy civil construction industry. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional with experience in bridge, dam/water, and heavy-civil construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review contract documents to understand project scope, requirements, and potential risks.
• Prepare detailed and accurate bid proposals, including quantity take-offs, preliminary construction schedules, and subcontractor/material quotations.
• Break down bid items into labor, equipment, and material requirements.
• Evaluate subcontractor scope and ensure completeness of submitted quotes.
• Maintain and analyze historical cost data to support accurate estimates.
• Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans that may affect project cost or timeline.
• Evaluate alternative construction methods and identify value-engineering opportunities.
• Support pre-bid development of project D/M/WBE and SDVOB plans and document good faith efforts.
• Prepare and submit bid documents within required timelines.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits when necessary.
• Present estimates and participate in bid reviews with executive leadership.
• Collaborate closely with estimators and project managers throughout the estimating process.
• Assist with post-bid documentation and coordinate the transition of awarded projects to the project management team.
• Review completed projects with project management teams to capture lessons learned and improve future proposals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in bridge and/or heavy highway construction estimating or project management.
• Demonstrated experience estimating heavy civil construction projects valued between $1M and $15M.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, crew structures, and production rates for heavy civil projects.
• Experience with alternative delivery methods such as Design-Build is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe or Bluebeam, and estimating software such as InEight Estimate or similar tools.
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
