Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney to join our Washington, DC office. The ideal candidate will have approximately 3–5+ years of substantive family law experience and a strong background handling family law matters from inception through resolution, including courtroom and trial experience.
An active District of Columbia Bar license is strongly preferred. Candidates currently admitted in Virginia and/or Maryland may also be considered if they are eligible and willing to pursue admission to the D.C. Bar by motion in the near future.
We are also open to attorneys whose practice includes a combination of Family Law and Criminal Defense, provided they have substantial and recent family law experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Handle family law matters from initial consultation through resolution or trial.
Represent clients in family law litigation and court proceedings.
Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, legal correspondence, and other case-related documents.
Conduct legal research and develop case strategies.
Prepare for and participate in hearings, negotiations, mediations, and trials.
Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other parties.
Manage a caseload independently while maintaining strong attention to deadlines and case strategy.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
Identify opportunities for business development and contribute to the growth of the practice.
Collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals as needed.
Qualifications:
3–5+ years of substantive family law experience.
Meaningful family law litigation and courtroom experience.
Experience handling cases through resolution and/or trial.
Active D.C. Bar membership strongly preferred.
Attorneys barred in Virginia and/or Maryland may be considered if eligible and willing to pursue D.C. admission by motion.
Strong knowledge of family law procedures, litigation strategy, and applicable rules.
Excellent legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
Strong client-management and communication abilities.
Ability to independently manage a family law caseload.
Candidates with both Family Law and Criminal Defense experience are welcome, provided they possess substantive family law experience.
Strong professional judgment, organization, and attention to detail.
