Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to support a Family Law attorney in a fast-paced litigation environment. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of family law paralegal experience, strong litigation skills, and the ability to independently manage cases from intake through resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Support family law matters including divorce, custody, child support, spousal support, equitable distribution, domestic violence, contempt, and post-judgment proceedings.
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas, financial affidavits, settlement agreements, and correspondence.
- Prepare and electronically file documents with Washington, DC courts.
- Manage court dates, deadlines, discovery, mediation schedules, and attorney calendars.
- Communicate professionally with clients, attorneys, opposing counsel, courts, mediators, and experts.
- Organize and analyze financial records, tax returns, bank statements, and business records.
- Coordinate discovery, document production, depositions, subpoenas, and expert witnesses.
- Prepare trial binders, hearing notebooks, exhibits, witness files, and mediation materials.
- Maintain accurate case files, monitor case progress, and ensure deadlines are met.
- Track billable time and assist with case management and administrative duties.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of Family Law Paralegal experience required.
- Strong experience supporting family law litigation from inception through resolution.
- Washington, DC family law experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent legal drafting, proofreading, organizational, and case management skills.
- Strong knowledge of discovery, court filings, and litigation procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software.
- Professional, detail-oriented, proactive, and highly organized.
