About the role

Role Description The Interior Designer will work on-site in Chatham, NJ in a full-time capacity, partnering closely with clients, project managers, and construction teams to deliver high-quality renovations and related interior projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing interior design concepts, preparing space plans, and producing detailed drawings and specifications for residential remodels. The role involves selecting finishes, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), coordinating material samples, and ensuring designs align with budget, timeline, and building requirements. The Interior Designer will meet with clients in the showroom and on project sites to present design options, refine plans, and guide them through the design process. Collaboration with vendors, contractors, and the in-house architectural and construction teams is key to maintaining design integrity from initial concept through final installation.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Interior Design, including concept development and residential kitchen and bath design.
  • Strong Space Planning skills to create functional, aesthetically cohesive layouts for remodels and additions.
  • Experience working with Architecture teams and understanding residential remodeling.
  • Ability to produce accurate Construction Drawings and documentation for use by contractors and trades.
  • Skill in FF&E selection, including finishes, fixtures, cabinetry, lighting, and surfaces aligned with project goals and budget.
  • Relevant software skills (e.g., AutoCAD, Chief Architect, or similar design tools; familiarity with Microsoft Office or project management tools).
  • Strong client-facing communication skills, with the ability to present design concepts and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Knowledge of current design trends, building codes, and residential construction practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work on-site in Chatham, NJ as part of a multidisciplinary team.
