About the job:
A litigation firm is seeking a litigation attorney to join its team in the Toledo office.
Candidates must have at least 3 years of general litigation experience and be able to work independently on business disputes, including contract, insurance coverage, real estate, franchise, and regulatory litigation cases. Commercial litigation and/or employment litigation experience is strongly preferred.
Candidates should have strong writing skills and be knowledgeable about the lifecycle of litigation, including being able to draft pleadings and motions, be proactive and responsive to
deadlines, participate in depositions and hearings, and work independently and collaboratively with attorneys and staff across offices on complex cases.
Where You'll Work:
This attorney will work in the Toledo office, or hybrid within the regional area. While the position can be primarily remote, travel to the Toledo office (depending on candidate location) 2–3 times per month will be required for in-person collaboration and connection.
What You'll Do:
Litigate commercial disputes from inception through resolution
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal memoranda
Take and defend depositions
Prepare for and handle or participate in hearings, mediations, and trials
Work closely with senior attorneys on case strategy and litigation management
Communicate with clients, experts, and opposing counsel
Manage caseload efficiently while meeting litigation deadlines and billable requirements
What We're Looking For:
Minimum 3+ years of commercial litigation experience required
Employment litigation experience is a plus, but not required
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
Active Ohio bar license required
Active Michigan bar license a plus
