Maintenance Technician — Second Shift
Position Summary
Seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to support production equipment and facility operations. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment used throughout a plating operation.
The Maintenance Technician must be able to work semi-independently, respond to production-line problems, identify the likely cause of equipment failures, and complete repairs safely and efficiently. The position will also support preventive maintenance, facility repairs, and equipment-improvement projects.
Shift
- Second Shift: Monday–Friday, 2:30 p.m.–11:00 p.m.
- Some overtime or occasional off-shift support may be required based on production and facility needs.
Essential Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, valves, sensors, piping, controls, and other production equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical and basic electrical problems affecting plating lines and facility equipment.
- Replace or repair pumps, seals, bearings, valves, sensors, hoses, piping, and related components.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and work with production employees to restore operations.
- Support plating lines and facility operations with limited direct supervision.
- Determine when a repair can be completed internally and when additional technical or outside support is needed.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance according to established schedules.
- Inspect equipment and identify developing problems before they cause downtime or safety concerns.
- Complete basic fabrication, assembly, installation, and modification work as needed.
- Assist with ventilation, exhaust, compressed air, water, wastewater, heating, and other facility systems.
- Safely work around plating tanks, chemicals, wet-process equipment, and industrial utilities.
- Document completed repairs, parts used, equipment conditions, and recommended follow-up actions.
- Maintain an organized work area and help control maintenance parts, tools, and supplies.
- Support equipment installations, facility projects, and continuous-improvement activities.
- Follow all safety, environmental, lockout/tagout, PPE, and company procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair pumps, valves, sensors, motors, piping, and mechanical equipment.
- Working knowledge of basic electrical troubleshooting, including verifying power, checking switches and sensors, and safely replacing basic components.
- Ability to read equipment manuals, diagrams, schematics, and maintenance instructions.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, meters, and other maintenance equipment safely.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work through equipment problems logically.
- Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests and communicate repair status clearly.
- Dependable attendance and willingness to take ownership of assigned work.
- Ability to work independently while recognizing when assistance or escalation is required.
- Welding, fabrication, plumbing, HVAC, controls, or wastewater-treatment experience is helpful but not required.
Physical and Work Requirements
- Regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in tight or elevated areas.
- Safely lift and move tools, parts, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work in an industrial plating environment that may be warm, humid, wet, noisy, or exposed to chemical odors.
- Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, safety footwear, and chemical-resistant equipment when necessary.
- Safely use ladders and powered industrial equipment when properly trained and authorized.
