Managing Attorney

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Managing Attorney to serve as a senior legal leader within a growing litigation practice. This position will work closely with firm leadership to oversee the performance, quality, and development of the legal team.

The Managing Attorney will be responsible for leading attorneys and paralegals, overseeing litigation matters, improving legal workflows, managing case quality and deadlines, and helping build a stronger and more scalable legal organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day performance and accountability of attorneys and paralegals.
• Oversee legal strategy, work quality, matter progression, deadlines, and trial readiness.
• Conduct structured case reviews and establish clear next-action requirements.
• Manage a diverse portfolio of litigation matters with competing priorities.
• Delegate substantive work effectively among attorneys, paralegals, and other legal professionals.
• Coach, mentor, and develop attorneys through delegation and performance feedback.
• Participate in attorney hiring, staffing, intake, and performance evaluation decisions.
• Address performance issues and maintain high professional standards.
• Monitor deadlines, legal risk, staffing efficiency, capacity, and legal budgets.
• Help establish consistent legal processes, standards, and decision-making protocols.
• Support the responsible implementation of AI, technology, and improved legal workflows.
• Maintain an active personal litigation practice while providing leadership to the broader legal team.

Required Qualifications

• Approximately 10–18 years of litigation experience.
• Active Texas law license in good standing.
• Current Dallas–Fort Worth location or credible availability to work in the DFW area.
• Strong experience in commercial, real estate, title, construction, business, insurance defense, or related civil litigation.
• First-chair trial experience or other meaningful courtroom responsibility.
• Demonstrated experience supervising multiple attorneys and legal professionals.
• Experience managing a varied portfolio of matters, deadlines, staffing requirements, and competing priorities.
• Strong delegation, coaching, mentoring, and performance-management skills.
• Excellent legal judgment, organization, communication, and decision-making abilities.
• Interest in building and improving a growing legal organization.
• Comfort with technology, AI, and disciplined legal workflows.
