About the role
Position Summary
The MRI Technologist performs high-quality magnetic resonance imaging procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist. Exams are conducted based on physician or licensed provider orders to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and injury. The technologist follows established imaging protocols while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and excellent customer service.
Schedule
- Part-Time
- Variable shifts based on department needs
- On-call requirement: 1 week per month
- Must reside within 30 minutes of the hospital for on-call response
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MRI procedures according to physician orders and departmental protocols
- Operate and maintain 3T and 1.5T GE MRI scanners
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures and explain exam processes
- Monitor patient safety and comfort throughout exams
- Screen patients thoroughly for MRI safety risks, including implants and devices
- Safely image patients with pacemakers and other implanted devices following approved protocols
- Assist with anesthesia/sedation cases in collaboration with clinical staff
- Ensure accurate documentation and image quality
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate effectively with Radiologists, nurses, physicians, and support staff
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of acute care hospital MRI experience required
- Experience operating 3T and 1.5T GE MRI systems required
- Experience with anesthesia patients required
- Experience scanning patients with pacemakers and other implants required
Certifications / Licensure
Must hold one of the following current credentials:
- ARRT (MR) – Magnetic Resonance Imaging
- ARRT (R) – Radiography
- ARMRIT – American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists
