Payment Operations Manager

Position: Payment Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, develop, and manage a team of payment operations professionals.
• Establish performance goals, KPIs, SLAs, and accountability standards.
• Oversee daily payment operations across ACH, wire, cards, RTP, FedNow, and emerging payment rails.
• Ensure accurate and timely transaction processing, settlement, reconciliation, and funding activities.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex payment and operational issues.
• Develop and maintain operational reporting, dashboards, and performance metrics.
• Establish strong financial controls and operational governance around payment processing.
• Ensure compliance with NACHA, Reg E, AML/KYC, ISO 20022, and applicable payment network standards.
• Identify and mitigate operational, financial, fraud, and compliance risks.
• Support audits, regulatory examinations, and remediation initiatives.
• Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for Payment Operations.
• Evaluate emerging payment technologies, including RTP, FedNow, digital wallets, and embedded payments.
• Lead payment modernization, automation, and operational transformation initiatives.
• Develop business cases for process improvements and strategic investments.
• Partner closely with Finance, Treasury, Product, Risk, and Technology teams.
• Provide operational insights and performance updates to senior leadership.
• Lead operational planning, forecasting, budgeting, and scalability initiatives.
• Improve customer experience while reducing operational friction.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred.
• 7–10+ years of experience in payment or banking operations.
• 3–5+ years of leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of ACH, Wire, RTP/FedNow, and card payment networks.
• Working knowledge of ISO 20022.
• AAP certification or another comparable certification is preferred.
• Strong understanding of payment operations, settlement, reconciliation, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
