About the Job:
We are seeking an experienced Principal / Senior Electrical Engineer (MEP) to lead the design and delivery of complex electrical systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, education, and other high-performance building projects. This leadership role requires strong technical expertise, client-facing experience, and the ability to mentor engineering teams while managing multiple projects from concept through construction.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in an MEP consulting environment, a deep understanding of building electrical systems, applicable codes and standards, and a passion for delivering innovative engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the electrical design and engineering of complex building projects.
Design power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
Serve as the electrical discipline lead on multiple MEP projects.
Coordinate with architects, mechanical, plumbing, structural, and other project stakeholders.
Meet with clients to understand project requirements and provide engineering solutions.
Prepare design calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
Review project drawings for quality, accuracy, and code compliance.
Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, energy codes, and local building codes.
Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and technical delivery.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers and designers.
Participate in construction administration, RFIs, submittal reviews, and site observations.
Maintain strong client relationships and support business development efforts when needed.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
10–15+ years of experience in an MEP consulting engineering environment.
Strong experience designing building electrical systems.
Thorough knowledge of electrical engineering principles, building systems, and construction documentation.
Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, IBC, IECC, and other applicable codes.
Excellent communication, leadership, and client management skills.
Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects.
Ability to mentor and develop junior engineering staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
Experience with Revit.
Experience using AutoCAD, Bluebeam, SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, or similar electrical design and analysis software.
Experience with sustainable, energy-efficient, and high-performance building design.
