Position: Production Manager
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Job Type: Permanent/Full Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Second Shift (2:00 PM–10:00 PM)
Job Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the cable assembly production department. This position ensures that production schedules are met, quality standards are maintained, and operational processes are continuously improved. The Production Manager supervises production supervisors and staff, coordinates with cross-functional departments, and ensures that production activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Production Oversight
• Develop, implement, and manage daily production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery timelines.
• Monitor production performance, output levels, and workflow to ensure operational efficiency.
• Identify and address production issues that may impact schedules, quality, or productivity.
Supervision and Leadership
• Supervise, coach, and support production supervisors and team members.
• Ensure employees are meeting departmental goals for productivity, quality, and safety.
• Promote accountability and encourage continuous development of staff.
Employee Engagement and Work Environment
• Maintain a positive and respectful work environment.
• Address employee concerns and operational challenges in a timely and professional manner.
Continuous Improvement
• Implement and support lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen, and other process improvement methods.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance production processes.
Communication and Coordination
• Provide regular updates to management regarding production status, operational challenges, and solutions.
• Coordinate with purchasing, inventory, quality, and logistics departments to support production requirements and resolve issues affecting operations.
Training and Development
• Support onboarding and training of new employees within the department.
• Assist in developing training processes and improving employee skills and performance.
Reporting and Documentation
• Maintain production records and performance metrics.
• Utilize Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) to prepare reports and communicate operational data.
Conflict Resolution and Problem Solving
• Address operational and personnel issues through effective problem-solving and communication strategies.
Qualifications
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Leadership Position manufacturing environment,
• Working knowledge of lean manufacturing practices such as 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field preferred.
Work Environment
• Work is performed in both manufacturing floor and office environments.
• Frequent interaction with production personnel, supervisors, and other departments.
