Project Captain – Architecture

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site

Job Summary

We are seeking a Project Captain with strong NYC architectural experience to support design, construction, project coordination, and project administration across multiple projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with Project Managers and senior leadership while mentoring junior staff and coordinating consultants throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee project design, construction, and project administration as part of a project team.
  • Work under the direction of Project Managers and senior managers.
  • Mentor and guide junior architectural staff.
  • Review NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) objections and ensure compliance with building codes, client requirements, and design intent.
  • Perform architectural drafting while balancing project management and coordination responsibilities.
  • Coordinate structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, expediting, lighting, and acoustical consultants.
  • Document project correspondence and prepare meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Perform Quality Assurance (QA) reviews of drawing sets.
  • Manage construction administration and documentation, including RFIs, ASIs, submittals, and drawing reviews.
  • Apply knowledge of CSI divisions to construction documentation and administration.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
  • Four-year BS in Architecture may be considered.
  • 3–6 years of NYC architectural experience.
  • Proficiency with:
  • Revit and Revit plugins such as Enscape
  • AutoCAD
  • InDesign
  • Photoshop
  • 3D computer modeling software
  • Familiarity with:
  • NYC DOB processes
  • NYC Building Codes
  • Zoning
  • ComCheck
  • Accessibility requirements
  • Experience with AIA contracts and project schedules.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, organization, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interior Design experience is a plus.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultants.
  • Experience with construction administration and project documentation.
  • Strong understanding of NYC architectural and construction processes.
