About the Job:
We are seeking a Project Engineer II – Substation to support the engineering, design, and execution of utility substation and renewable energy projects. This role is ideal for an Electrical Engineer with experience in substation engineering, utility interconnections, and renewable energy systems. The successful candidate will assist with engineering design, construction documentation, material procurement, and project coordination while working closely with senior engineers, designers, clients, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in developing engineering plans, specifications, and inspection reports.
Prepare material take-offs, material lists, and support labor contract documentation.
Assist with the design and preparation of construction drawings for:
Utility Substations
Solar Farms
Wind Farms
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
Utility Interconnection Projects
Support engineering for AC/DC, low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical systems.
Assist with procurement activities, including material purchasing and construction contract administration.
Coordinate with designers and CAD technicians to ensure accurate project deliverables.
Support engineering activities related to one or more of the following:
Physical substation layout design
Protection & Control (P&C) design
SCADA design
Relay settings and programming
Field support
Commissioning
Relay testing
Provide technical guidance and assist in mentoring junior Project Engineers.
Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, contractors, and internal engineering teams.
Ensure compliance with company safety policies and industry standards.
Utilize Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, for project documentation and reporting.
Perform additional engineering and project-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
2–5 years of experience in substation engineering, utility engineering, power systems, or renewable energy projects.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is required.
Passing the Professional Engineer (PE) exam is a plus.
Experience with utility substations, transmission, distribution, or renewable energy infrastructure.
Understanding of AC/DC electrical systems and utility interconnection requirements.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
