About the Job:
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer – Municipal Water/Wastewater to support the planning, design, evaluation, and delivery of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil or environmental engineering, wastewater collection systems, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and municipal infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex engineering projects from concept through construction while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and support municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
Perform wastewater collection system evaluations, rehabilitation planning, and hydraulic analyses.
Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction contract documents.
Conduct field investigations, site inspections, and engineering assessments.
Coordinate with utility providers and assist with permitting activities.
Develop engineering cost estimates and project analyses.
Prepare erosion and sedimentation control plans and support environmental compliance efforts.
Provide bid support, contractor evaluations, and construction phase engineering services.
Coordinate with survey, geotechnical, structural, and electrical engineering consultants.
Work closely with internal QA/QC reviewers and project management teams to ensure quality project delivery.
Monitor project schedules, budgets, and overall project progress.
Serve as a technical resource for clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
Mentor and support junior engineering staff through technical guidance and quality reviews.
Participate in client meetings and maintain strong professional relationships.
Travel locally as needed for project sites, inspections, and client meetings.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in municipal water and wastewater engineering projects.
Active Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Experience with wastewater collection systems, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and municipal infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of engineering design principles, hydraulic analysis, and construction documentation.
Experience preparing technical reports, engineering specifications, and cost estimates.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Project, and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience with AutoCAD and GIS is preferred.
Willingness to travel locally for project-related activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
15+ years of municipal water/wastewater engineering experience.
Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Strong client management and project coordination experience.
Construction administration and contractor coordination experience.
Knowledge of municipal regulations and utility coordination processes.
