Job Summary
The Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) is seeking an experienced QA Test Analyst with strong expertise in both manual and automation testing to support mission-critical enterprise applications serving Connecticut residents.
A major focus of this position is Spanish-language testing. The selected candidate will test and validate Spanish-language screens, correspondence, notices, messages, forms, workflows, and other resident-facing application content. The candidate must be professionally proficient in both English and Spanish and able to compare Spanish content against approved English requirements for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and functionality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual and automated testing across enterprise applications.
- Test and validate Spanish-language application functionality and resident-facing content.
- Compare Spanish functionality and content against approved English requirements.
- Test Spanish screens, labels, instructions, error messages, alerts, forms, notices, correspondence, and workflows.
- Develop detailed test scenarios, test cases, and automated test scripts.
- Review business requirements, user stories, functional specifications, and technical documentation.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, requirements walkthroughs, release planning, and design reviews.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, SIT, UAT, API, smoke, and end-to-end testing.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using approved frameworks.
- Perform API/web-service testing and backend database validation using SQL.
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution.
- Participate in defect triage and validate fixes.
- Maintain Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) coverage.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, architects, project managers, vendors, and State stakeholders.
- Support production releases and post-production validation.
- Communicate Spanish-language testing findings clearly to technical and business teams.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of QA experience testing large enterprise applications.
- Strong hands-on manual testing experience.
- Experience with test automation and automation frameworks.
- Professional working proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Experience throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, processes, and best practices.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with both business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Ability to translate business requirements into detailed test scenarios and test cases.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Experience using Jira for defect tracking and Agile project management.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when comparing English and Spanish application content.

- Validate Spanish notices, forms, correspondence, and resident communications.
- Identify incorrect, incomplete, inconsistent, misleading, or contextually inappropriate translations.
- Ensure English and Spanish experiences provide consistent business functionality.
- Create Spanish-specific test cases.
- Document Spanish-language defects.
- Communicate findings to English-speaking stakeholders.
- Perform regression testing of Spanish functionality.
