About the Job:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS/PLS) to join our team in New Philadelphia, Ohio. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and performing land surveying activities for a variety of civil, commercial, municipal, industrial, and land development projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical surveying expertise, leadership experience managing field crews, and a thorough understanding of boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, and legal documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, and perform land surveying activities for multiple projects.
Conduct boundary, topographic, ALTA, construction layout, and as-built surveys.
Supervise and lead field survey crews while ensuring quality, safety, and project efficiency.
Operate Total Stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, data collectors, and other modern surveying instruments.
Prepare and review survey plats, legal descriptions, maps, and survey reports.
Interpret deeds, easements, plats, and property records.
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients throughout project execution.
Ensure all survey work complies with state, local, and industry standards.
Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D, CAD software, and survey processing software to prepare deliverables.
Maintain accurate project documentation and field records.
Support project scheduling, quality assurance, and client communication.
Required Qualifications:
Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) license in Ohio, or the ability to obtain Ohio licensure.
Experience performing topographic, boundary, construction, and site development surveys.
Strong proficiency with Total Stations, GPS/GNSS, and electronic data collection equipment.
Experience preparing survey plats, legal descriptions, and survey documentation.
Working knowledge of survey principles, property boundaries, and applicable surveying regulations.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar CAD software.
Familiarity with GIS software is a plus.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field.
Experience leading survey crews and coordinating multiple survey projects.
Knowledge of municipal, commercial, industrial, and land development projects.
Experience with modern survey technology and workflow management.
