Restoration Designer

Job Description

Support the planning, analysis, and design of ecological restoration projects, including streams, wetlands, and riparian systems. This role involves technical design, fieldwork, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. Level II works with moderate independence, while Level III leads more complex design efforts and mentor’s junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop restoration designs and prepare reports, cost estimates, and construction documents
• Conduct field assessments and ensure QA/QC of data and deliverables
• Coordinate with engineers and teams on grading, hydraulics, and design integration
• Apply watershed analysis and restoration best practices
• (Level III) Lead project components, review junior work, and support project management

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, ecology, or related field
• Designer II: 3–5 years of experience; Designer III: 5+ years
• Experience with restoration design and technical documentation
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS
• Knowledge of watershed processes and restoration principles

Preferred Qualifications

• Hydraulic modeling experience
• Familiarity with permitting and regulatory processes
• Strong technical writing and QA/QC skills
• Mentorship experience (Level III preferred)
