About the role
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to oversee construction safety compliance across multiple active project sites. This role is responsible for monitoring OSHA compliance, conducting site safety inspections, reviewing contractor safety documentation, supporting incident investigations, and ensuring adherence to all construction safety regulations and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee construction safety activities across multiple project sites
- Monitor compliance with OSHA and construction safety regulations
- Conduct daily safety inspections and prepare safety reports
- Review contractor safety submittals including:
- JHA
- Fall Protection Plans
- Crane Lift Plans
- Excavation Plans
- Confined Space Entry documentation
- Attend construction meetings and lead safety discussions/toolbox talks
- Support incident investigations, safety stand-downs, and corrective actions
- Monitor contractor compliance with safety policies and procedures
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and field teams
- Prepare weekly health, safety, and environmental reports
- Ensure compliance with OCIP requirements and site safety standards
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of commercial construction experience in the U.S. with a General Contractor
- 5+ years of California construction experience
- 2+ years of educational/campus construction project experience
- Strong experience with:
- Demolition
- Renovation
- New construction projects
- Experience with:
- Multi-site safety oversight
- Incident reporting
- Safety inspections
- Contractor coordination
- Experience working on OCIP programs
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
Required Certifications:
Candidate must hold one of the following active certifications:
- SMS (Safety Management Specialist)
- CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician)
- CSMC (Certified Safety Manager Construction)
Also required:
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Construction Management, Safety Management, Safety Engineering, or related field
- OSHA 500 Certification
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification
- Additional safety certifications preferred
