About the job:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Architect with 15+ years of architectural experience to lead the planning, design, and execution of complex federal and military infrastructure projects. This is a leadership opportunity for an architect with extensive experience managing large-scale government projects from concept through construction.

The successful candidate will oversee multidisciplinary teams, collaborate with government stakeholders, manage project financials, and ensure all projects meet Department of Defense standards and federal regulations. This role offers the opportunity to lead high-profile projects supporting military facilities and infrastructure modernization.


Key Responsibilities:

Lead the planning, design, and construction of federal and military facilities.

Manage projects throughout the complete lifecycle, from concept development through construction and commissioning.

Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including architects, engineers, consultants, and government agencies.

Ensure compliance with DoD standards, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS), and other federal regulations.

Prepare and review design documents, technical specifications, project schedules, and cost estimates.

Monitor project budgets, financial performance, and resource allocation.

Conduct site evaluations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments.

Coordinate mission-critical systems and operational requirements with government clients.

Implement quality assurance and quality control procedures.

Mentor junior architects and contribute to the growth and development of the architectural team.

Support business development initiatives and expand architectural capabilities within the region.


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or related field.

Master's Degree in Architecture preferred.

Registered Architect (RA) license required.

Minimum 15 years of architectural design and construction experience.

At least 5 years of experience managing federal or military facility projects.

Strong knowledge of DoD design standards, MILCON processes, UFC, and UFGS requirements.

Experience with industrial, training, or shipyard facility design is highly preferred.


Proficiency with:

AutoCAD

Revit

Microsoft Project

Adobe Creative Suite

Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and stakeholder coordination skills.

Ability to travel to Norfolk approximately one week per month if based in another office.

Must be eligible to pass background screening and provide proof of U.S. work authorization as required for federal projects.
