About the Job:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Engineer to join our Commissioning (Cx) team. This role is ideal for a motivated engineering professional with strong experience in commissioning, MEP consulting, or building systems design. The Senior Commissioning Engineer will work on a variety of high-performance building projects, including healthcare facilities, laboratories, educational institutions, and commercial buildings.

The selected candidate will be responsible for managing commissioning activities throughout all project phases, including design review, controls evaluation, site observations, functional performance testing, and project closeout. This position requires strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage commissioning projects from design phase through construction completion and final verification.

Perform design reviews and evaluate MEP systems, controls design, and building performance requirements.

Conduct site observations, system inspections, and functional performance testing.

Review construction documents, submittals, sequences of operations, and commissioning documentation.

Collaborate with project teams including owners, contractors, architects, and engineering consultants.

Identify system deficiencies and provide recommendations for corrective actions.

Support energy efficiency, sustainability, and high-performance building initiatives.

Ensure compliance with applicable commissioning standards, energy codes, and industry guidelines.

Prepare detailed commissioning reports, test procedures, and project documentation.

Manage multiple projects while maintaining quality, timelines, and client satisfaction.

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of experience as a Commissioning Engineer, MEP Consultant, Design Engineer, or related building systems engineering role.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience.

Experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls, and building automation systems.

Strong understanding of commissioning processes and building performance standards.

Knowledge of California Energy Code and ASHRAE commissioning guidelines and energy-related standards.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam Review.

Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Ability to work effectively in active construction environments.

Strong interest in sustainability and high-performance building systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Commissioning certification (such as CxA, CCP, or equivalent) is a plus.

Experience with MEP design, controls systems, or energy management.

6+ years of experience as a Controls Contractor, MEP Manager, or Cx Manager will be considered in place of traditional education/certification requirements.

Experience working on healthcare, laboratory, institutional, or complex commercial projects.
