Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Inspector to support a major NYC public infrastructure project in Brooklyn. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience inspecting NYC DDC/DOT/DEP construction projects, with a proven background in roadway reconstruction, sidewalks, ADA improvements, sewer and watermain installation, utility coordination, and traffic control.

This position requires someone who can independently perform field inspections, monitor contractor activities, verify compliance with plans and specifications, document daily construction progress, and coordinate effectively with project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform daily field inspections of major NYC infrastructure and roadway construction projects.

Inspect roadway reconstruction, pavement restoration, trench restoration, sidewalks, curbs, and related concrete work.

Inspect installation and reconstruction of ADA curb ramps, detectable warning surfaces, pedestrian facilities, and raised crosswalks.

Monitor sewer construction, including installation, rehabilitation, connections, structures, and related underground utility work.

Inspect watermain installation and replacement, including associated connections, testing, and restoration activities.

Monitor utility relocation and coordination involving multiple contractors and utility agencies.

Inspect Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT), traffic detours, lane closures, signage, barriers, and pedestrian routing.

Verify construction activities comply with approved plans, specifications, codes, and project requirements.

Monitor contractor workmanship, materials, quantities, sequencing, and progress.

Maintain detailed daily inspection reports, field records, photographs, quantity documentation, and construction logs.

Identify deficiencies, non-conforming work, safety concerns, and potential construction issues.

Coordinate with contractors, project management staff, engineers, agency representatives, and other field personnel.

Assist with resolving field conflicts and coordinating construction activities around existing infrastructure.

Monitor work near elevated infrastructure and MTA-related environments where applicable.

Review completed work and support punch-list and closeout activities.

Required Qualifications:

Strong experience as a Construction Inspector / Senior Construction Inspector on NYC public infrastructure projects.

Demonstrated NYC DDC, NYC DOT, or NYC DEP construction inspection experience.

Proven experience with roadway and sidewalk reconstruction.

Experience inspecting ADA curb ramps, detectable warning surfaces, curbs, and pedestrian improvements.

Hands-on experience with sewer and watermain construction.

Experience with MPT / traffic control, lane closures, traffic detours, and maintaining travel lanes.

Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, inspection procedures, and field documentation.

Ability to independently monitor contractors and identify construction deficiencies.

Strong communication and coordination skills.

Ability to work full-time in the field in Brooklyn, NY.
