Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of commercial electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage communication systems. This role requires strong technical leadership, project management capabilities, and experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering and architectural teams on complex commercial and government projects.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in commercial lighting design and power distribution systems, demonstrate expertise in electrical engineering design standards, and provide mentorship to junior engineering staff while overseeing multiple projects from concept through construction.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and manage electrical system designs for:

Power distribution systems

Commercial lighting systems

Fire alarm systems

Low-voltage communication systems

Collaborate with integrated architecture and engineering teams to ensure coordinated project execution

Prepare and oversee:

Equipment selection

Engineering calculations

Construction documents

Technical specifications

Design analyses

Project deliverables

Review project RFPs and prepare RFIs for project pursuits

Lead electrical engineering teams across multiple projects while ensuring schedule and quality objectives are achieved

Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and support to engineering staff

Conduct building system surveys, site investigations, and facility assessments

Support sustainable and energy-efficient design initiatives, including LEED and Green Building certification efforts

Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and government criteria including DoD UFC requirements

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related field

Professional Engineer (PE) license required

10+ years of experience in:

Commercial lighting design

Power distribution systems

Electrical engineering for commercial or government facilities

Strong proficiency in:

AutoCAD

Revit

Autodesk Building Design Suite

Experience leading electrical engineering teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously

Knowledge of:

National electrical codes and standards

DoD UFC criteria

Sustainable building design practices

Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

Valid driver’s license required

Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Ability to pass background screening requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE)

LEED GA or LEED AP BD+C certification

Certified Energy Manager (CEM)

RCDD certification

Experience with all project phases including design development, construction documents, and construction administration
