About the Job:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the engineering and design of complex transmission, distribution, substation, and renewable energy projects. This role serves as a technical leader responsible for developing innovative electrical engineering solutions, mentoring engineering staff, and ensuring projects meet customer requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in medium- and high-voltage power systems, substation engineering, and renewable energy infrastructure, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead engineering and design activities for medium- and high-voltage substations, switchyards, transmission, and distribution system projects.
Ensure electrical transmission, distribution, and renewable energy facilities are designed to meet customer specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements.
Provide technical guidance, consultation, and support to internal and external stakeholders.
Develop and review:
Single-line and three-line diagrams
Schematic and wiring drawings
General arrangement and layout drawings
Communication and SCADA drawings
Equipment installation details
Perform and prepare:
Relay settings and coordination studies
Load flow analysis
Ground grid studies
Arc flash studies and reports
Harmonic analysis:
High-voltage operating procedures and documentation
Prepare electrical equipment specifications and evaluate vendor submittals for compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and scope development.
Develop project Bill of Materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation.
Mentor, train, and oversee junior engineers and technical staff.
Maintain current knowledge of electrical power system design, construction practices, materials, equipment, and emerging technologies.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
Minimum 10 years of electrical engineering experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state.
Experience designing medium- and high-voltage substations, transmission, distribution, or renewable energy facilities.
Strong understanding of electrical power system analysis and protection.
Ability to manage complex engineering projects and resolve technical challenges.
Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with utility, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar, and microgrid projects.
Proficiency with ETAP, SKM, or similar power system analysis software.
Experience performing:
Arc flash studies
Short circuit analysis
Relay coordination studies
Conductor sizing calculations
Experience developing engineering drawings using AutoCAD or similar design software.
Previous experience in Design-Build, EPC, construction, or manufacturing environments.
