About the Job:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Counsel to manage complex business litigation matters from intake through resolution. This role requires a seasoned attorney with strong business litigation experience, exceptional legal writing and advocacy skills, and the ability to independently manage a litigation docket in a remote environment.
The ideal candidate will provide strategic legal counsel to business clients, oversee all phases of litigation, and represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and settlement negotiations while ensuring compliance with California procedural requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage complex business and commercial litigation matters from case inception through final resolution.
Develop and execute litigation strategies aligned with client objectives.
Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation-related documents.
Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis of California statutes, regulations, and case law.
Manage all phases of discovery, including written discovery, document review, and depositions.
Advise clients regarding litigation risks, settlement opportunities, and dispute-avoidance strategies.
Prepare clients, witnesses, and experts for hearings, mediations, depositions, and trial proceedings.
Negotiate settlements and participate in alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
Represent clients before California Superior Courts and other relevant tribunals.
Coordinate with outside counsel, consultants, and expert witnesses as necessary.
Monitor and ensure compliance with all court deadlines, procedural requirements, and litigation schedules.
Collaborate with leadership to improve litigation processes, case management practices, and client service initiatives.
Contribute to business development and client relationship management efforts.
Required Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Active California Bar license and good standing with the State Bar of California.
Must be physically located in California.
Minimum of 7 years of litigation experience, preferably focused on business or commercial disputes.
Strong knowledge of California civil procedure, statutes, and case law.
Significant courtroom experience, including motions practice, hearings, and trial preparation.
Proven ability to provide practical, business-focused legal advice and risk assessments.
Experience managing settlements, mediations, and complex negotiations.
Excellent legal research, writing, drafting, and oral advocacy skills.
Strong organizational, analytical, and case management abilities.
Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while managing multiple priorities.
High ethical standards and commitment to professional excellence.
Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive experience handling complex business litigation matters.
Experience working directly with business owners, executives, and corporate stakeholders.
Familiarity with modern legal technology, litigation management software, and remote collaboration tools.
