We are seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Counsel to join a growing litigation practice focused on public entity defense, tort litigation, and complex civil matters. This position is ideal for a seasoned attorney with extensive litigation experience, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven ability to manage client relationships while driving successful case outcomes.
The successful candidate will lead complex litigation matters from inception through resolution, oversee case strategy, mentor junior attorneys, and contribute to the continued growth of the practice. Key Responsibilities:
Manage all phases of complex civil litigation and public entity defense matters from intake through trial and resolution.
Take and defend depositions, including parties, corporate representatives, and expert witnesses.
Develop and implement case strategies that align with client objectives and litigation goals.
Draft, review, and argue motions, pleadings, and other legal documents.
Serve as first-chair or second-chair trial counsel in state and federal courts.
Oversee matter budgeting, staffing, resource allocation, and quality control.
Build and maintain strong client relationships while providing strategic legal counsel.
Support business development efforts through client expansion and cross-selling opportunities.
Supervise, mentor, and develop associates, paralegals, and litigation support staff.
Utilize modern litigation technology, e-discovery platforms, and cloud-based case management tools to maximize efficiency and results.
Required Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Active license and good standing with the Texas State Bar.
Minimum of 7 years of civil defense litigation experience.
Strong background in public entity defense, tort litigation, or complex commercial litigation.
Demonstrated success handling complex cases and managing substantial caseloads.
Experience leading litigation teams and supervising legal professionals.
Exceptional written, verbal, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.
Proven ability to manage client relationships and contribute to business growth.
Experience with litigation technology, e-discovery tools, and modern legal practice platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
Trial experience with significant courtroom exposure.
Experience managing institutional or public-sector clients.
Strong leadership, mentoring, and practice development skills.
