About the role
OVERVIEW
The Senior Project Manager will join the Water/Wastewater team in Baton Rouge, LA, providing technical and design services in support of water infrastructure projects, including water and wastewater treatment, water distribution, and wastewater collection/pumping. Responsibilities include conducting preliminary evaluations, preparing reports, producing design drawings and technical specifications, and preparing permit submittals for civil engineering projects.
Multi-year backlog of work available for this role.
DURING YOUR WORKDAY, YOU WILL:
- Manage and provide technical and design oversight for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Manage support staff, establish budgets and schedules, provide technical oversight, and perform QA/QC.
- Manage design and plan production for civil engineering projects as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
- Monitor project metrics and provide input on invoicing to ensure projects remain profitable and meet target margins.
- Conduct preliminary and final engineering evaluations.
- Assign project roles to engineering support teams and oversee design calculations and assessments.
- Prepare and oversee studies, reports, design drawings, technical specifications, and permit submittals.
- Oversee construction activities, including field visits and site inspections.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and ensure tasks are completed within established schedules and budgets.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding project scope, deliverables, expectations, and project updates.
- Stay informed about municipal infrastructure plans and upcoming projects.
- Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal design and permitting requirements.
- Attend client and business-development meetings and deliver project presentations and updates.
- Support marketing, business development, project development, and client relations.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- BS in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
- Louisiana Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or the ability to obtain a Louisiana PE within 6–12 months through reciprocity.
- At least 6 years of progressive experience in project management and water/wastewater project design preferred.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with hydraulic modeling preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments across multiple projects.
- Methodical, precise, consistent, and process-oriented approach.
- Strong organizational, technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand client directives and coordinate effectively with design teams.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a project team.
- Willingness to work occasional after-hours events, public meetings, deadlines, business socials, and client activities.
- Interest in marketing, business development, project development, and client relations.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record.
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT:
- 10–15 years of experience in civil engineering, particularly water and wastewater design.
- Strong project management experience.
- Experience preparing plans, profiles, cross-sections, elevations, structure sections, construction details, pipe routing, references, and perspective drawings.
- Experience obtaining permits from local, state, and federal review agencies.
- Direct coordination and communication with regulatory and permitting agencies.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, or similar design and plan production software.
- Experience with hydraulic modeling and water/wastewater infrastructure design.
