About the Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager (Plumbing Division) to lead and grow a self-perform plumbing division supporting highly technical construction projects. This leadership role is ideal for a professional with extensive experience managing commercial and industrial plumbing operations, design-build projects, and turnkey project delivery within laboratory, healthcare, research, cleanroom, or other critical environments.
The successful candidate will oversee project execution from preconstruction through commissioning, lead estimating efforts, manage field teams, and drive operational excellence across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Delivery:
Manage self-performed plumbing projects from preconstruction through closeout and commissioning.
Lead field crews on new construction, renovation, and laboratory build-out projects.
Maintain project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and safety compliance.
Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, engineers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
Coordinate with mechanical and specialty trades to ensure seamless project execution.
Design-Build & Turnkey Delivery:
Participate in early project planning and design development.
Review designs for constructability, efficiency, and cost optimization.
Coordinate with engineering consultants and internal project teams.
Identify scope gaps, potential risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
Deliver projects from concept through owner turnover.
Estimating & Preconstruction:
Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and project estimates.
Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
Support business development and proposal efforts.
Ensure accurate project forecasting and cost control.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor foremen, journeymen, apprentices, and project staff.
Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and high-quality workmanship.
Develop workforce capabilities and support team growth initiatives.
Drive performance and operational improvements across the division.
Technical Scope:
Plumbing Systems
Underground and overhead plumbing utilities.
Sanitary, industrial, and corrosive waste systems.
Medical and laboratory gas delivery systems.
High-purity gas distribution systems and automated manifolds.
Ultra-pure, deionized (DI), and reverse osmosis (RO) water systems.
Compressed air and vacuum systems.
Laboratory fixtures, safety showers, eyewash stations, and specialty equipment connections.
Mechanical & Specialty Systems:
Process piping systems.
Laboratory exhaust systems.
Fume hood and biosafety cabinet support systems.
Corrosion-resistant piping and ventilation systems.
Specialty mechanical systems supporting critical environments.
Required Qualifications:
8+ years of experience managing commercial or industrial plumbing projects.
Experience delivering design-build and turnkey construction projects.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including plumbing, process piping, compressed air, vacuum, gas, and exhaust systems.
Experience working in laboratory, pharmaceutical, healthcare, research, cleanroom, or technical facility environments.
Knowledge of corrosive waste systems and specialty piping applications.
Experience with ultra-pure water, DI water, and RO water systems.
Background in specialty gas distribution, compressed air, and vacuum systems.
Proven estimating and preconstruction experience.
Demonstrated success leading self-perform construction crews and field operations.
Strong project management, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Plumbing license preferred.
Trade background strongly preferred.
Experience with laboratory exhaust and mechanical systems.
Familiarity with medical gas systems and healthcare facility requirements.
