Senior Paralegal, Trademark

Location: San Francisco

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3–4 days per week in the office

Employment Type: Permanent, Non-Exempt

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Trademark Paralegal to support U.S. and international trademark prosecution and portfolio management in a fast-paced legal environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing international trademark portfolios, handling trademark docketing and prosecution matters, filing documents with the USPTO, conducting trademark searches, and coordinating with foreign associates.

Candidates must live within commutable distance (approximately one hour or less) of the applicable office and be able to work onsite 3–4 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-screening trademark searches.
  • Assist with preparation and filing of U.S. trademark applications.
  • Prepare statements of use, extensions, affidavits, renewals, and related trademark documents.
  • Assist with management of domestic and international trademark portfolios.
  • Support U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution and maintenance matters.
  • Correspond with foreign associates and other external contacts.
  • File and monitor trademark-related documents with the USPTO.
  • Research trademark status using various databases.
  • Maintain accurate trademark docketing records and deadlines.
  • Provide trademark support for corporate and due diligence matters.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding trademark matters.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys, partners, and internal teams.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Work overtime as needed to meet business and client requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Trademark Prosecution Paralegal required.
  • ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate preferred.
  • Must live within approximately one hour of the Chicago, Los Angeles, or San Francisco office.
  • Ability to work onsite 3–4 days per week.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience managing international trademark portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of intellectual property and trademark docketing processes.
  • Experience filing documents with the USPTO.
  • Knowledge of USPTO and WIPO trademark rules and procedures.
  • Familiarity with trademark procedures in other countries.
  • Experience with Corsearch, SAEGIS, or similar trademark screening tools.
  • Experience with Foundation IP or similar trademark docketing systems.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Strong teamwork, judgment, tact, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work overtime when required.
  • Flexibility to travel when necessary.
