Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Site Civil Engineer (PE) to join a growing Site Development team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in site development and civil engineering design, with the ability to develop engineering and construction plans for a variety of private and public development projects.

The successful candidate should be highly proficient with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and H&H, possess strong technical design capabilities, and be comfortable managing projects, coordinating with clients and consultants, and supporting construction activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare private and public site development plans, civil engineering construction documents, reports, and technical studies.

Perform detailed civil engineering design and calculations for site development projects.

Develop and review plans using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Apply hydrology and hydraulics (H&H) principles to project design and analysis.

Manage project deliverables, schedules, scopes, budgets, and support personnel.

Oversee and coordinate the work of CAD designers, junior engineers, and project team members.

Coordinate with external consultants for geotechnical, environmental, traffic, surveying, and other specialized design services.

Review and incorporate findings from environmental, geotechnical, traffic, and other technical reports into project designs.

Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies to understand project requirements and resolve design issues.

Participate in client and project meetings and present proposed design approaches and technical solutions.

Provide construction administration support, including submittal reviews, RFIs, site visits, contractor coordination, and field problem-solving.

Communicate directly with contractors and provide technical guidance during construction.

Ensure compliance with established QA/QC procedures and engineering standards throughout all project phases.

Coordinate project permitting and design requirements with local jurisdictions and regulatory agencies.

Assist with business development activities, proposals, and client relationship efforts.

Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining quality, accuracy, and deadlines.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

4+ years of professional experience in site development/civil engineering projects.

Active Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Strong experience with site development design and engineering plans.

Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Working knowledge of Hydrology & Hydraulics (H&H).

Experience working with local jurisdictions and permitting agencies in the Houston/Texas market.

Familiarity with agencies/jurisdictions such as:

City of Houston

Harris County

TxDOT

Fort Bend County

Other Texas municipalities and regulatory agencies

Strong understanding of civil engineering design principles, permitting, and construction processes.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal project teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience managing site development projects from design through construction.

Experience with commercial, residential, industrial, municipal, or mixed-use development projects.

Strong construction administration and field coordination experience.

Experience managing junior engineers and CAD/design staff.

Strong knowledge of Texas design standards, permitting requirements, and local jurisdiction criteria.

Experience with project scopes, budgets, schedules, and client management.
