About the Job:
We are seeking a Structural Intern Engineer with 0–5 years of experience in building structural design to join a collaborative engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or newly licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to work on a variety of commercial, multifamily, retail, and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will participate throughout the full project lifecycle, including structural analysis, design, modeling, coordination, and construction administration while receiving strong technical mentorship and professional growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform structural analysis and design for gravity and lateral load-resisting systems using steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and wood.
Prepare structural calculations and engineering designs for commercial, multifamily, retail, and industrial building projects.
Develop and coordinate 3D structural models using Revit Structure in collaboration with architectural and MEP teams.
Apply building codes and design standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI, to ensure code-compliant designs.
Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and participate in construction administration activities.
Conduct site visits and field observations to verify construction aligns with design intent.
Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
Coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, and clients throughout project execution.
Assist with the development and refinement of engineering calculations, standards, and design documentation.
Provide technical support and mentorship to junior staff when applicable.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
0–5 years of structural engineering experience focused on building design.
Active Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Strong understanding of structural systems and lateral load design, including wind and seismic analysis.
Knowledge of steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and wood structural design.
Experience with structural analysis software such as:
RISA-3D
RAM Structural System
SAP2000
Proficiency with Autodesk Revit Structure is highly preferred.
Familiarity with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI design codes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to travel occasionally for project-related activities.
Must be located in or willing to relocate to the Denver/Englewood, CO area.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
Experience working on commercial, multifamily, retail, or industrial building projects.
Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows.
Construction administration and field observation experience.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and teamwork skills.
