About the Job:
We are seeking an experienced Survey Project Manager to lead and coordinate land surveying projects from initial planning through final delivery. This role will oversee field and office survey teams, manage project schedules and budgets, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, and ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality surveying deliverables.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in land surveying, project management, team leadership, and client coordination, along with a solid technical understanding of boundary, topographic, construction, and ALTA/NSPS surveys.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage land surveying projects from project initiation through completion.
Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
Lead and coordinate field survey crews and office-based survey personnel.
Assign resources and monitor project progress to ensure deadlines are met.
Review survey data, drawings, calculations, and final deliverables for accuracy and quality.
Provide technical guidance on boundary, topographic, construction, and ALTA/NSPS surveys.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, engineers, architects, and other project stakeholders.
Communicate project status, requirements, schedules, and potential issues to clients and internal teams.
Identify and resolve technical, scheduling, and project-related challenges.
Ensure surveying activities comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, and project specifications.
Monitor project costs and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance.
Prepare and review proposals, scopes of work, and project documentation as needed.
Support business development and maintain strong client relationships.
Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical support to survey staff.
Conduct quality-control reviews to ensure accurate and professional project deliverables.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience managing land surveying projects from start to finish.
Strong knowledge of land surveying principles and practices.
Experience with boundary, topographic, construction, and ALTA/NSPS surveys.
Experience leading survey field crews and office survey teams.
Strong understanding of project scope, scheduling, budgeting, and resource management.
Ability to review and interpret survey data, plans, drawings, and technical documents.
Strong client communication and relationship-management skills.
Excellent organizational, leadership, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of applicable surveying standards, regulations, and quality-control procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or eligibility for licensure.
Experience with surveying and project-management software.
Experience with CAD/GIS and survey data-processing systems.
Experience working with engineering, construction, and development projects.
Strong understanding of ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys and commercial surveying requirements.
