About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join a dynamic public accounting firm. This role is ideal for a tax professional who enjoys managing client relationships, handling complex tax matters, mentoring staff, and contributing to overall firm growth. The position offers a mix of tax compliance, planning, advisory, and leadership responsibilities within a collaborative and flexible work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax & Compliance
Prepare and review individual, business, trust, and estate tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120-S, and 1041
Manage tax compliance deadlines, extensions, and filing requirements
Conduct tax research and apply federal and state tax laws to resolve complex tax issues
Respond to IRS and state tax notices and assist with audits when needed
Tax Planning & Advisory
Provide proactive tax planning, projections, and strategic guidance to clients
Advise clients on entity structure, business decisions, and long-term tax implications
Serve as a trusted advisor by helping clients understand their financial and tax positions
Accounting & Financial Oversight
Review and analyze financial statements
Oversee or assist with accounting and bookkeeping services for select clients
Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting
Client & Team Leadership
Build and maintain strong client relationships through consistent communication
Mentor, review, and support staff and interns through training and guidance
Identify process improvements and opportunities to enhance efficiency and client service
Contribute to business growth initiatives and new service development
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
CPA license or actively pursuing CPA certification
3–8+ years of public accounting experience with a strong tax background
Experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns
Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Experience using professional tax software
Preferred
Experience reviewing or managing staff work
Client advisory and tax planning experience
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment
