Toolroom Supervisor – Journeyman Moldmaker

Location: Elk Grove Village, IL

Compensation: $32–$40/hour

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Toolroom Supervisor / Journeyman Moldmaker to lead daily toolroom operations while remaining hands-on with injection mold building, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily toolroom operations and personnel.
• Build, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot injection molds.
• Perform preventive mold maintenance and recommend tooling improvements.
• Manage tooling priorities and support production and engineering needs.
• Build and maintain assembly and machining fixtures.
• Coordinate with external tooling vendors on outsourced projects.
• Mentor moldmakers, apprentices, and developing technical employees.
• Improve toolroom processes through safety, quality, lean, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure tooling projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Required Qualifications

• Journeyman Moldmaker certification or equivalent experience.
• Extensive injection mold building, repair, and maintenance experience.
• Previous supervisory, lead, or management experience.
• Strong machining, mechanical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in medical, aerospace, or highly regulated manufacturing.
• Experience mentoring apprentices.
• Knowledge of Lean/continuous improvement principles.
